MARINE
At Mascoat, we realize that watercraft builders, owners and operators deal with a number of practical concerns when it comes to thermal protection. Our marine thermal barrier coating products are formulated to meet the challenging, harsh marine environments and unique insulation requirements of the maritime industry. Mascoat marine products are currently used on thousands of vessels around the globe - from barges and workboats to luxury yachts and military craft.
Traditional insulation tends to absorb moisture, causing hazardous conditions as water drips onto boat walls and vessel floors. Mascoat marine anti-condensation coatings resist water buildup, prevent corrosion under insulation (CUI) and create safe environments for crew and passengers. Simply spray the low-VOC, water-based coatings onto sidewalls, stiffeners, overheads and other substrates to prevent condensation and maintain stable cargo and passenger temperatures. These spray-applied coatings are excellent with the hard-to-reach places.
Mascoat coatings have been a staple on workboats for over 20 years for their ability to provide a thermal barrier, condensation protection and sound damping to keep passengers and crew safe and comfortable. Designed exclusively for protection in water environments, our premium marine coatings have MED certification and are approved by agencies like ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, USCG, RINA and more. When you invest in our economical, easy-to-apply workboat protection, you’ll ensure long-term solutions for your vessels.
Mascoat Marine-DTM drastically reduces condensation and prevents water buildup, so vessel floors remain slip-proof and easy to navigate. When applied to wall and bulkhead constructions up to 4 mm thick, Marine-DTM can work in conjunction with conventional insulation methods to provide anti-condensation and a thermal barrier, and protect substrates for years to come. The water-based coating is extremely low in VOCs, making it ideal for use in confined spaces.
Mascoat Sound Control-dB greatly enhances the comfort and safety of those onboard workboats by reducing vibrational transfer of noise throughout a vessel. Application in engine rooms, bow thruster compartments and crew work and rest areas, protects those onboard from unnecessary and harmful noise. Not only does this protect shipowners from liability due to hearing loss, it also makes vessels more attractive to potential employees who want to know they’ll be working in a safe environment.
Yacht builders painstakingly select each and every material that goes on their vessels to ensure they are of the best quality and are the preeminent products in their field. This is why yacht builders around the world consistently use Mascoat coatings and VBS mounts to prevent condensation, provide a thermal barrier and reduce overall noise and vibration.
Our spray-applied, high-tech protective coatings prevent external conditions from impacting interior comfort while also minimizing unsettling noise and vibration from engine rooms and bow thruster compartments. Our marine coatings are the leading anti-condensation and sound control products for optimal durability and efficiency.
Mascoat Marine-DTM is designed to save space, expand design options and streamline the shipbuilding process. It is a high-tech, protective coating engineered and proven to prevent condensation for years to come. Marine-DTM is a thin coating applied in 0.5 mm coats up to 4.0mm, depending on conditions present. The lightweight formulation reduces overall weight to ensure vessels stay within weight parameters as designed by the naval architect or engineer.
Mascoat Sound Control-dB is renowned for its ability to dampen vibrations and reduce noise in a thin film coating. The newest version, released in 2021, offers amazing sound abatement for its thickness, especially in the 0-300 Hz range. Applied up to 2mm per coat, the coating can greatly reduce construction time frames while offering superior sound damping and substrate protection.
To further help vessels stay within IMO sound criteria, Mascoat also offers VBS Isolation Mounts and Rail Systems. Each of these mounts is designed to decouple the structure and the ceiling/wall system, resulting in both reduced vibration and noise throughout the vessel. These mounts ensure that vessels do not have annoying and possibly dangerous noises stemming from onboard vibration of the walls and ceilings.
Mascoat coatings have been applied to car and passenger ferries for over 20 years because of their ability to provide a thermal barrier, condensation protection and sound damping to keep all on board safe and comfortable. Designed exclusively for protection in water environments, our premium marine coatings have MED certification and are approved by agencies like ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, USCG, RINA and more. When you invest in our economical, easy-to-apply ferry protection, you’ll ensure long-term solutions for your vessels.
Mascoat Marine-DTM drastically reduces condensation and prevents water buildup in areas under decks that can drip down onto surfaces below. It eliminates or drastically reduces moisture, making it safer for passengers with slip-proof surfaces. Marine-DTM can also be applied to below deck sidewalls and stiffeners. The spray-applied product is low in VOCs, making it safe and easy to apply.
Mascoat Sound Control-dB greatly enhances the comfort and safety of all those onboard ferries by reducing vibrational transfer of noise throughout the ship. Application in engine rooms and bow thruster compartments, as well as crew and passenger areas help to protect those onboard from unnecessary and harmful noise.
To keep vessels within IMO sound criteria Mascoat also offers VBS Isolation Mounts and Rail Systems. Each of these mounts is designed to decouple the structure and the ceiling system, resulting in both reduced vibration and noise throughout the vessel. These mounts help vessels meet ABS (HAB++) standards for livability, offering the highest degree of crew comfort and safety on workboats.
Mascoat marine-grade coatings have been applied on offshore platforms, in every corner of the globe, for their ability to provide a thermal barrier, condensation protection and sound damping in the harshest marine environments. They are designed specifically for the harshest areas and have proven to withstand storm after storm without degradation or maintenance issues. Our marine coatings are substantially lighter than other solutions - one platform saved over 8,000 pounds (3.600 kg) by installing our coatings!
Mascoat Marine-DTM drastically reduces condensation and provides a true thermal barrier to protect interior spaces and the crew onboard. Marine-DTM can be installed to the underside of skids to reduce condensation and on the exterior of crew spaces to enhance interior comfort that can be affected by solar loading or heat from onboard equipment. The coating has been installed throughout non-insulated machinery spaces and void spaces to reduce interior condensation and protect against corrosion in unforgiving environments like the North Sea.
Mascoat Sound Control-dB greatly enhances the comfort and safety of the crew on the platforms by reducing vibrational transfer of noise. This noise can be generated by machinery, equipment, ductwork and shafts. The simple, one-part application can be built up to 2.0 mm per coat, ensuring a quick and easy application. Since it applies directly to the substrate or primer, it also provides long-term corrosion protection that will stand the test of time.
