Sound Control-dB is a coating specifically designed to deaden noise caused by metal structural translation. It is applied easily via spray method, reducing installation times and ensuring a long lasting solution. In addition to this coating, we also offer VBS Isolation Mounts to decouple walls and ceilings from the superstructure to further reduce noise and vibration on marine vessels.

Condensation Control

Mascoat coatings insulate and protect industrial, commercial, marine and automotive substrates around the world. Our products are tested to the highest standards and are proven to protect against condensation and prevent or eliminate corrosion under insulation (CUI). When water is absorbed by conventional insulation systems, it reduces overall effectiveness because moisture conducts heat more efficiently than air. A small amount of moisture can cause a significant drop in thermal efficiency. Also, as operating temperature increases, the negative effects of moisture increase as well. Things like molten sulfur, slurry, and asphalt emulsions stored in the +200°F range will see a larger drop in thermal efficiency once moisture is added. 

Another side effect of moisture is corrosion under insulation (CUI), which has proven to be a major problem in the marine, petrochemical and chemical process industries. Due to the insulation’s ability to trap moisture and hold it against the surface, corrosion-promoting atmospheres rapidly degrade most carbon steel substrates. As this developed, there became a need for high-performance coating systems under thermal insulation.

Our products are a great alternative to conventional insulation materials, including cellular glass, perlite, mineral wool, fiberglass, urethane and closed cell foam and calcium silicate. Mascoat coatings are lighter than traditional insulation paints, reducing bulk in your structure. They also require much less maintenance than conventional insulation, which can save time and money.
